The iPhone app "Where To?" has gotten mixed reviews, but I think its great for three bucks. It has a good interface with several main categories (i.e. food, theaters, etc.) with more underneath. The app takes your queries and uses the iPhone's Google Maps and GPS functionality to give you a list of points of interest, maps, and directions.
One of the major complaints about this app is that it yeilds nothing you can't get from Maps and GPS alone. Well, that is true, but it does take some of the heavy lifting off your hands. First, the categories are right there on the interface, meaning no typing. Secondly, it will autocorrect categories to match those of Maps if you do a word seach. That saves a bunch of time and gives you better results in the end.
You can look at it at the apps store here.
